2024-05-06This time I’m going to share with you some cafes and fine-dining options inside Azabudai Hills.
About Azabudai Hills
Azabudai Hills is a complex opened in November 2023 as the tallest building in Tokyo and Japan.
It is located in Tokyo’s Minato Ward which is home to many embassies and hotels.
Azabudai Hills became the new attraction in Tokyo right now including teamLab Borderles relocated from its previous location in Odaiba.
Here are my recommended restaurants & cafes at Azabudai Hills.
Balcony by 6th
All-Day-Dining offers its signature Basque cheese cake and fluffy original pancakes.
This dining was originally located in Yurakucho, it was always crowded, and it moved to here in Azabudai Hills.
It remains extremely popular here as well, always full with no chance of entry without a reservation.
However there is still a way to make reservations in advance.
By visiting the restaurant directly and informing the staff of your desire to book for the day,
they will guide you through registering in the queue management system via LINE (or email) to notify you when seats become available.
In fact, we were able to secure a reservation on the day we visited.
We arrived at the restaurant promptly after its opening at 11:00 am on Sunday.
Within an hour of registering in the queue management system, my turn arrived, allowing me to enter the restaurant.
While awaiting our seat, we enjoyed exploring other shops in the complex or stepping outside the building,
finding this system remarkably convenient.
The restaurant’s standout items are the 6th Pancake and Basque Cheesecake.
Looking around, most people seemed to be ordering them.
The Pancakes require about a 20-minute wait to be served fresh.
And they are incredibly fluffy and delicious.
The Basque Cheesecake is also divine, with a creamy texture, but it’s quite sweet,
so those who aren’t big fans of sweet treats might find it a bit overwhelming to finish alone.
Therefore, sharing is recommended!
Limelight
A famous steak restaurant from Ichigaya, Tokyo has opened its flagship store at Garden Plaza B B1F!
When I arrived around 11:40 am, just 10 minutes after opening at 11:30, the restaurant was already nearly full.
Fortunately, I managed to enter without having to wait in line.
* Lunch reservations aren’t accepted.
We ordered the “Limelight Hamburg” and “Cheese-stuffed Fried Beef.”
Although the Limelight style cheese hamburg is particularly popular, I opted for it without cheese this time.
Instead of the classic demi-glace sauce, the hamburg came with a garlic butter sauce.
When I took a bite-sized piece of the hamburg and dipped it in the sauce,
the flavor of the garlic butter sauce spread throughout my mouth.
The hamburg was juicy and delicious.
The cheese-stuffed fried beef, originally a highly regarded off-menu item, has now made it to the regular menu due to its popularity.
It’s a unique dish that you don’t often see elsewhere. The meat was slightly rare,
but with plenty of cheese, providing a satisfying chewiness. It also pairs well with the garlic butter sauce.
While the original store in Ichigaya often has long queues, the Azabudai Hills branch operates with a queue management system.
You receive a notification on your smartphone when it’s your turn, allowing you to explore nearby areas during the wait and make the most of your time.
ÉCHIRÉ L’Atelier du Beurre
The new Échiré store, already emanating the sweet scent of butter from its surroundings, is located at Garden Plaza B1F.
One of their Azabudai Hills limited items is the “Brioche Croissant ÉCHIRÉ,” featuring Échiré butter-packed brioche wrapped in croissant dough.
You can enjoy the crispy texture of croissants and the melting mouth of brioche.
It is often said that it synonymous with Échiré L’Atelier du Beurre.
Another recommended item is the “Croissant Double,” with an abundance of butter folded into the dough, making it irresistible for butter enthusiasts.
It’s great to receive your “Brioche Croissant ÉCHIRÉ in a sturdy and adorable box!
While you wait for your order, you can enjoy watching the bread being made right in front of you.
Although each item may be a bit pricey, they are exceptionally delicious, making them worth every penny!
Besides Brioche Croissant ÉCHIRÉ and croissants,
there are also several Azabudai Hills limited items such as Kouglof and Saint-Honoré, traditional French pastries.
Be sure to visit and try them out!
Pelican cafe
On the 1st floor of Tower Plaza, you’ll find Pelican cafe.
At this café, you can enjoy toast and sandwiches made with bread from “Bread Pelican” in Asakusa, Tokyo.
We tried the Azabudai Hills limited menu items, the “Fried Shrimp Sandwich” and the “Soy sauce raisin red bean paste butter sandwich with gorgonzola”.
The “Fried Shrimp Sandwich” was slightly different from the usual, with a hint of sansho pepper which is Japanese pepper.
It might be a bit strong for those who don’t enjoy sansho pepper, but it offers a unique flavor to savor.
The “Soy sauce raisin red bean paste butter sandwich with gorgonzola” features soy sauce-marinated raisins and Gorgonzola cheese mixed into the red bean paste.
The flavor of Gorgonzola stands out, creating a distinct taste compared to a regular butter sandwich with red bean paste.
Both sandwiches had fluffy bread and were delicious, with a unique twist in flavor.
It’s so adorable to see the pelican logo drawn on cups and plates.
That concludes the top four gourmet choices to try at Azabudai Hills.
Each of these options is so popular that they often have long queues.
Therefore, I really appreciated the convenience of the queue management system, allowing for a more enjoyable use of time.
I hope you’ll consider this article as a reference and enjoy a food experience at Azabudai Hills!
