2024-09-07Looking for an easy day trip from Tokyo? Why not explore the Zushi and Hayama area?
With “Hayama Excursion Ticket” from Keikyu, you can enjoy everything this beautiful resort area at an affordable price.
In this article, I’ll show you how to make the most of the Hayama Excursion Ticket, along with tips to maximize its benefits.
Contents
1. What is the Hayama Excursion Ticket?
The Hayama Excursion Ticket, known as Hayama Joshi Tabi Kippu in Japanese, is a special ticket package designed for those looking to explore the Zushi and Hayama areas located approximately 1 hour from central Tokyo.
This ticket can be purchased by anyone, although the ticket name is included “Joshi” (means “girls” in English).
The Hayama Excursion Ticket is a great-value pass that includes three special benefits:
- Train & Bus ticket
- Meal ticket
- Leisure Facility Use or Souvenir Ticket
Just keep in mind that each meal and reward voucher can only be used once per person. In the following sections, we’ll dive into the details of each of these three features.
2. Train & Bus ticket
The Train & Bus ticket includes a round-trip ticket for Keikyu Line, allowing you to get on and off freely between your departure station and Zushi-Hayama Station.
It also comes with Keihin Kyuko Bus unlimited ride zone ticket.
There are two types of tickets available: a digital ticket and a physical ticket.
The digital ticket, which is slightly cheaper and can be purchased in advance on the Miura Newcal website here, is a convenient option.
Physical tickets are available at all Keikyu Line stations except Sengakuji Station and Zushi-Hayama Station.
Ticket prices vary depending on the departure station and usage date, generally ranging from 3,500 to 4,100 Japanese yen.
Note that the ticket is valid for one day only.
3. Enjoy lunch with the “Meal Ticket”
The “Meal Ticket” allows you to select one participating restaurant and enjoy a specified menu at no additional cost — a great way to save on lunch while exploring the area.
When using your Meal Ticket, just inform the restaurant staff that you’ll be using the Hayama Excursion Ticket and show your pass upon entry or when ordering. Planning ahead and deciding which restaurant to visit can help you make the most of this meal benefit and savor delicious local flavors.
I personally chose to use my Meal Ticket at Restaurant Orange Blue, considering its popularity, location, and menu options.
Restaurant Orange Blue is located within The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama. It offers a stunning setting where you can dine while enjoying views of Isshiki Beach right in front of you, and on clear days, you can even see Mt. Fuji. It’s a truly exceptional location to enjoy a meal.
Since Restaurant Orange Blue is very popular, there was already a line of about 12 groups waiting when I visited around 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday, so it took about an hour to be seated.
The special menu for the Hayama Excursion Ticket here offers a choice of either a hamburger steak (with rice or bread) or a yakitori rice bowl, along with a drink (coffee, tea, or oolong tea).
If ordered them without the Hayama Excursion Ticket, the hamburger steak costs 1,700 yen, while the yakitori rice bowl is 1,500 yen, so if you’re unsure which to pick, choosing the hamburger steak gives you a slightly better deal.
You can check details of other participating restaurants for the meal ticket on the official website.
4. Cursing with the Leisure Facility Use Ticket
With the “Leisure Facility Use or Souvenir Ticket,” you can select one option from a wide range of participating businesses, including cafes and activities.
Among the choices, I opted for the “Enoshima Yujiro Lighthouse Cruise,” which offers the best value. This cruise takes you from Hayama Marina to Enoshima over a 45-minute journey.
You can find detailed information about the cruise route on the official website.
The boarding point for the cruise is located inside Hayama Marina, just a short walk from the Hayama Marina bus stop.
There are only three departure times each day at 11:00, 13:00, and 15:00, so it’s advisable to decide on your preferred time in advance for a smoother experience.
You need to complete the check-in at the information desk on the first floor of Hayama Marina at least 20 minutes before departure.
After checking in, you will wait in the second-floor waiting room until the staff calls your group.
After the roll call, all participants will head to the cruise boat together.
This time, we took this cruise boat. It was smaller than I expected, but it was quite fast.
By the way, there are several seats inside the boat, but there are no seats outside, so I had to stand.
Enoshima was the turnaround point before returning to Hayama Marina.
The backside of Enoshima is normally not visible from the land, so it was a unique view.
You can make advance reservations for the “Enoshima Yujiro Lighthouse Cruise” through the official website mentioned above or by phone.
To avoid the worry of being unable to board due to exceeding capacity, I recommend making a reservation in advance. I was able to secure a reservation by calling the day before.
The regular price for this cruise is 3,300 yen for adults, but you can experience it using the Hayama Excursion Ticket, which almost pays for the ticket itself.
It’s a very cost-effective option, so I highly recommend giving it a try. You can find details about other participating restaurants and activities for the reward ticket on the official website.
5. Recommended spots to visit in the Zushi and Hayama area
Zushi and Hayama area is filled with attractive spots.
Here are some highlights of places I visited:
- Hayama Marina
With its scenic view of numerous yachts lined up, Hayama Marina exudes a resort-like atmosphere. Inside, you’ll find the famous Hayama Marlowe, known for its delicious pudding
“Hokkaido Fresh Cream Pudding.” is a must-try!
- Morito shrine
This shrine is famous for matchmaking.
You can approach the torii gate of Naeshima Island, which is situated 700 meters offshore, during Enoshima Yujiro Lighthouse Cruise.
- Hayama Siosai Park
Located next to The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama, this park features a small Japanese garden and a museum where you can learn about the marine life of Sagami Bay.
The Hayama Excursion Ticket isn’t valid here, so there’s a 300 yen entry fee for adults, but it’s a hidden gem with fewer visitors.
- Zushi beach
Zushi Beach is a popular destination in the summer, but even if you’re not swimming, it’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Spending a chilling time on the sandy beach is highly recommended.
- Kameoka Hachimangu
Located just near the north exit of Zushi-Hayama Station, Kameoka Hachimangu Shrine is convenient for a quick visit upon arrival or before heading home.
6. My Experience Using the Hayama Excursion Ticket
I calculated how much I saved on this trip by using the Hayama Excursion Ticket. I purchased the ticket for 3,580 yen, and here’s the breakdown of what I would have paid individually without Hayama Excursion Ticket:
• Keihin Kyuko Bus unlimited ride pass:600 Japanese Yen
• Ticket for Enoshima Yujiro Lighthouse Cruise:3,300 Japanese Yen
• Meal cost:1,700 Japanese Yen
Total:6,732 Japanese Yen
By using the Hayama Excursion Ticket, I was able to enjoy experiences worth 6,732 yen for only 3,580 yen—saving over 3,000 yen!
Choosing the right combination of the reward and meal tickets made the savings even better.
The Hayama Excursion Ticket is perfect for those visiting the Zushi-Hayama area for the first time or anyone looking to enjoy sightseeing on a budget.
Make the most of this high-value ticket and fully experience all the charm of Zushi and Hayama.
Enjoy your trip and the great savings!
