If you’re planning a trip to Europe and looking into ANA’s direct flight from Tokyo to Brussels, this post is for you!
I flew ANA NH231 in Economy Class and I’ll share what it was like – from the ANA Lounge at Narita Airport, to in-flight meals, to what it’s like spending over 14 hours on board.
Let’s dive into it!

🛋 ANA Lounge at Narita Airport
* Thanks to my Star Alliance Gold status, I was able to enjoy the lounge before boarding.
My flight was at 10:25 AM, and I arrived at the ANA Lounge (Narita Terminal 1) around 8:20 AM.
Since it was a weekday morning, the lounge was really quiet — no lines, plenty of seats, and a calm atmosphere.
I headed straight to the shower room, and luckily, I didn’t have to wait.
The showers now use a card key system, which is a nice upgrade from the old number tag method.

Everything was clean and easy to use, with clear instructions on how to lock/unlock the doors.

🌿 Eco-friendly amenities
Amenity items like slippers and toothbrushes now come in paper packaging (not plastic).
The slippers weren’t even in a bag — just placed out directly.

🧴Skincare products
Skincare products are still SEKKISEI.

Shampoo/conditioner are from MIKIMOTO, now in cream-colored bottles.

• The hairdryer is now Panasonic (it used to be Dyson).

🍽 ANA Lounge Meals – What’s New?
The usual cold dishes and noodle bar were there, but this time I noticed some new hot meal options:
• Vegan Mapo Tofu
• Seafood Paella
I actually mixed the two together — and yes, it was surprisingly good!

Instead of ANA’s usual chicken curry, I tried their 12-Vegetable Curry.
It had a nice spicy kick.
Just a note — the staff serve the curry for you, so you can’t control how much you get.

✈️ Boarding NH231 – Takeoff on Time
Boarding started on time and everything went smoothly.
I noticed that many of the passengers were European, especially French-speaking.
Makes sense since the flight goes to Brussels.

Comfortable seat!
🍷 First In-flight Meal
ANA offers a summer menu for June–August 2025, as shown in the image below.
You can check the latest menu here.

I chose the Hashed Beef stewed in red wine, which was nicely warm and tasty.
Everything, from the tray to the cutlery, was made from eco-friendly paper materials.

And yes, we got Häagen-Dazs strawberry ice cream for dessert!

After about 7.5 hours, the crew handed out a small bread.

Around 8.5 hours in, we were flying over the Arctic region — and I got a stunning view of snowy fjords from my window.
A definite highlight!

🍱 Second In-flight Meal
The second meal came about 2 hours before landing.

I chose the Salmon Flakes & Egg Strips over Steamed Rice.
And wow — it might be the best airplane meal I’ve ever had in Economy Class.
The rice was hot, fluffy, and perfectly cooked — not dry or soggy.
I actually liked it better than some meals I’ve had in Business Class!

🛬 Arrival in Brussels – Long But Worth It
After 14 hours and 10 minutes, we landed safely in Brussels.
To be honest, the first 11 hours flew by, but the last 3 hours felt super long.
Still, overall it was a very smooth flight.
Funny story — two days later, I actually saw some of the same cabin crews sightseeing in Brugge!
Since NH231 flies only on Wednesdays and Saturdays, they might get a bit of time to explore the city.
The NH231 direct flight from Tokyo to Brussels is an excellent option for anyone heading to Europe from Japan.
